The Bucknell Camerata is the University's select chamber choir, comprised of 24-32 members and representing nearly every major field of study at Bucknell, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, education, and engineering. Under new direction in 2015-16, the ensemble will expand its repertoire to include both sacred and secular works from the medieval
period through the 21st century, with special emphasis on baroque and contemporary repertoires. The ensemble regularly undertakes the performance of extended a cappella and choral-orchestral works. The ensemble enjoys a regular touring schedule, including biennial domestic and international tours. Recent destinations have included England, Wales, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, West Germany, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy and Croatia. Tours have included collaborations with premiere ensembles including Electric Phoenix (London, UK), Cambridge's Fitzwilliam String Quartet (Cambridge, UK) and the Brewer Chamber Orchestra. A highlight of the Camerata's concert calendar is its annual performance in Bucknell's popular Candlelight Service of Carols at Rooke Chapel, attracting crowds to Rooke Chapel for three performances each December. The Bucknell University Concert Chorale is a mixed chorus of 40-50 students from various fields of study at Bucknell, formed in 1964 by Allen Flock. The Concert Chorale presents three programs annually of secular and sacred music, including an annual performance in Bucknell's popular Candlelight Service of Carols at Rooke Chapel. Repertoire includes a cappella, accompanied, and extended choral-orchestral works. In addition to its public concerts on campus, the ensemble has toured extensively in the U.S., presenting concerts from Canada to Florida, including distinguished venues such as St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Both ensembles are led under the direction of Dr. Beth Willer.
