Join producer and director Bruno Wollheim for discussion following the film on Tuesday, September 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center, Room 105, admission is free and refreshments will be served following the discussion.

Filmed over three years, this documentary captures David Hockney’s return from

California to paint the Yorkshire landscape of his childhood. He re-invents his

painting from scratch, working through the seasons and in all weathers out in the

countryside—and makes the largest picture ever painted outdoors. It is at once the

story of a homecoming and a revealing portrait of what inspires and motivates one of Britain’s greatest living artists as time runs out.

One of the three is Kate Gilmore, Bates studio art major in the class of 1997. This is when we are reminded again that we have really great students and we are doing some things right.
