The Disability Resource Center is sad to announce the passing of retired Accommodations Consultant M. Susan Fogg following a brief illness. Susan, a graduate of UK, worked for the university since 1976, retiring in 2022 after 47 years of service to the University. Susan was the DRC’s second employee and worked tirelessly to support generations of UK students with disabilities. In her later years as an Accommodations Consultant, Susan worked particularly closely with students with chronic health and sensory disabilities. She also oversaw Alternate Text Production. Susan will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Susan was preceded by her husband of 45 years, Dean, and is survived by her children, Christopher, Andrew, and Lauren, eight grandchildren, sister Janice, and Brother Danny.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM Monday, September 18, 2023, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be held from 4-8PM Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the funeral home.

The DRC is honored to support Studio Players' production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by providing technical consultation and outreach.

In this unique 'whodunnit' we follow Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old mathematical genius, as he tries to solve the mysterious death of his neighbor’s dog Wellington. Along with solving this mystery, Christopher strives to find his place in the world; he navigates a neurotypical world with a neurodivergent brain. Christopher experiences intense isolation, and this play takes us along for all the moments of that isolation: happy and sad, easygoing and intense, good and bad.

This play was one of the first of its kind to bring conversations about neurodiversity and the neurodiverse community to the forefront. It explores elements of identity, authenticity, relationships, and acceptance. We see Christopher’s neurodiversity does not hinder him but rather makes him who he is and allows him to thrive.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" runs from May 11-28 at The Carriage House Theater. Tickets are available from the Singletary Center Box Office at www.scfatickets.com or by calling 859-257-4929.

The Disability Resource Center mourns the death of Virginia Moore, Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. For decades she served Kentucky’s Deaf Community, most visibly during the COVID-19 pandemic when she regularly interpreted the Team Kentucky Updates. Our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Kentucky, I have some heartbreaking news to share. Virginia Moore, the Kentuckian who taught us all the importance of leading with love and inclusion, passed away yesterday.

Virginia was a rock of stability and grace during the pandemic. She helped bring us all together in our most challenging times, so I hope you’ll join Britainy and me today in praying for all who loved her. I will miss her greatly, but as Virginia would remind us in our grief: We will get through this; we will get through this together. ^AB
