W&L Pi Beta Phi

W&L Pi Beta Phi Sincere friendship since 1867 The Virginia Theta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi was founded on April 25, 1992. In 2017, Pi Beta Phi celebrated 150 years of sisterhood.

It was the fourth of six NPC sororities at Washington and Lee University. The Greek atmosphere at W&L is very different than at most universities, with around 75% of campus women choosing to participate in Greek life. Washington and Lee Pi Phis participate in Pi Phi sponsored philanthropy and social events and take their scholarship very seriously, yet remain heavily involved in organizations on c

The mission of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women is to promote friendship, develop women of intellect and integrity, cultivate leadership potential and enrich lives through community service. Throughout its history, Pi Beta Phi has helped young women develop meaningful relationships while reaching their personal potential through leadership opportunities. Pi Beta Phi offers many programs that provide a variety of services and benefits to its members, including a lifetime of sisterhood, personal development, philanthropic service, leadership opportunities, mentor relationships and networking.

“As VPME, I work with my directors to oversee chapter experiences involving sisterhood, academics, fraternity values, ritual, new member experience, lifelong membership, and our members’ overall chapter experience.

I have had the incredible opportunity to give back to Pi Phi by growing and strengthening our sisterhood, which has meant the world to me. There is no sisterhood like Pi Phi, and I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to help make Pi Phi a place that feels like home for all of our sisters.”

Happy from Devon Coyle ‘28!

“From the very beginning, Pi Phi has given me the kindest, funniest, and most genuine group of girls who make every day better. Whether it’s SRAM-ily Saturday brunches, baking nights with .stockton_, late-night game nights or spring term waterfall trips with .puri and .krouse, there’s never a dull moment. I’ve also been lucky enough to have the best roommate, and the best twin who both make every day a new surprise for me. I’m so thankful for all the laughter, support, and memories Pi Phi has already brought me. FYW for a group of girls to share laughter and memories”

“As Vice President Operations, I oversee the operations of our Chapter, including taking attendance, keeping meeting minutes, updating Chapter bylaws, and overseeing leadership.

Being VPO allows me to learn more about and give back to a Chapter that’s provided me a sisterhood that I can rely on. Serving on Pi Phi leadership has helped me learn more about our organization and allowed me to connect with every Chapter Member on a personal level. Definitely a lot of personal and intellectual growth:)”
