Thinking about becoming a Montessori Elementary teacher? It's a big step! At METTC, we prepare educators for both Lower (ages 6-9) and Upper Elementary (ages 9-12) classrooms through MACTE-accredited, AMS-affiliated programs grounded in rigorous coursework, hands-on experience with Montessori materials, and meaningful mentorship.

One of the best ways to get a feel for the program is by joining an information session. It's a chance to learn what the training really looks like, how the coursework unfolds, what's expected during the practicum, and how our collaborative learning community supports you along the way. You'll leave the session with a clearer picture of the journey ahead.

Why should you take the Intro to Montessori course at METTC?

1. Gain a solid introduction to Montessori philosophy and practice — this course gives you a structured foundation in Montessori education, whether you’re new to the approach or want to deepen your understanding before further training.

2. Meet a requirement for elementary teacher certification — if you plan to pursue Montessori Elementary I or II certification, this Overview is required for those without a 3-6 credential, making it an essential first step in your training path.

3. Flexible learning options — choose between a one-week in-person session at Lexington Montessori School or an eight-week online format with live weekly sessions, so you can fit learning into your schedule.

4. Preparation for a variety of educational roles — the course isn’t just for future lead teachers; many schools and individuals find it an excellent introduction for assistants, specialists, administrators, and non-teaching staff who want to support Montessori environments more effectively.
