University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Ole Wendroth has been named this year’s recipient of the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) Don and Betty Kirkham Soil Physics Award.

The Plant and Soil Sciences Department will host the annual S. H. Phillips Distinguished Lecture in No-till Agriculture tomorrow, Friday, 11/18/16, at 2pm in the PSB Cameron Williams Lecture Hall. Shirley H. Phillips was an Extension Specialist in the Agronomy Department when modern no-till agricultural was just getting started in Kentucky in the late 1960s. He gained worldwide respect for his work on the development of no-till production methods so this lecture series was named in his honor. This year the lecture will be presented by Dr. Jim Martin, Extension Professor Emeritus. The title of his seminar is, "What Have We Learned about Managing Weeds in No-till Wheat?" A reception will immediately follow, all are welcome to attend.
