The Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi was established on Transylvania University's Campus Febuary 14, 1987. Since that day, the chapter has blossomed into a group of strong and confident women who pride themselves on their dedication to academics, sisterhood, and philanthropy. Currently, the international philanthropy of AOII is the Arthritis Foundation. The Arthritis Foundation is an organiza

tion that aims to advocate for individuals suffering from arthritis, educate the public about the disease, and support arthritis research through annual funding. Each year Tau Omega holds various events, such as Strike-Out Arthritis, Holiday Bingo, and Surpivor, to support the Arthritis Foundation! Every semester, the Tau Omega Chapter creates a newsletter to send to alums and families. The newsletter provides information about our events and about our sisters' involvement during the semesters. Each newsletter consists of articles personally written by sisters. There photos of and quotes from sisters as well. Our goal of creating a newsletter is to connect with others and to highlight the incredible things we achieve throughout the school year. Sisters of Tau Omega can be found participating in every aspect of campus life. Some of our sisters serve as Resident Advisors and August Term Scholars. There are Alphas who are student managers in various buildings at Transy. Our sisters can also be found on many athletic teams, including Swimming & Diving, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Dance, and Track & Field. Some are involved in planning many campus events: Greek Weekend, Spring Fling, Lecture Series, Alumni events, and much more. Many sisters participate in the many bands offered at Transy as well as the multiple student choirs and performance groups. Alphas can be seen in the spotlight at nearly every theatrical and musical event. Members of Tau Omega hold intership positions, volunteer with organizations in the Lexington community, study abroad while at Transy, and so much more! Congratulations Gabi! In the future, she plans on working in a biomedical laboratory while in vet school. Her dream job is to work with an animal conservation🐼❤️

Gabi’s advice to in coming freshman is… ”try not to be closed off and to see the different ways you can be involved in school. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but it can help you find what you enjoy and where you fit in. Give yourself time to adjust, because everything is new in the beginning. Stick around the people that make you feel safe and happy, and are supportive because that is really how you make most of your college experience. Most importantly, trust in yourself and know that you are stronger than you think”

Congratulations Bree! In the future, she plans on be coming a substitute teacher before securing a full time teaching position. 🍎📚

Bree’s advice to incoming freshman is… “it’s easy to fall into the trap of devoting all your time to studies and schoolwork. While thats admirable, it’ll lead to burnout QUICK. So make sure to create time to have fun with friends, relax, and enjoy the more social aspects of college!”
