Our TVI Cohort 12 had their last in-person weekend, where they modeled their abacus skills and learned Braille music. On Saturday evening, our TVIs gathered for the second annual graduation party. We love how our TVIs become like family as they complete their degrees. We are so proud of our graduates! We missed those who were unable to attend the party.

A collaborative presentation was led by KSB Outreach Consultant Gina Quaid, SouthEast SouthCentral Educational Coop Consultant Annie Connor, and UK TVI instructor Misty Epperson for teachers of students with complex needs. The session covered effective strategies for supporting students with Cortical Visual Impairments, including the implementation of Hand-under-hand techniques. Thank you SouthEast SouthCentral for inviting us to share this information and providing your teachers a CVI Kit where they can immediately implement strategies learned from this training.

Danielle Senf, an alumna of both our TVI and O&M programs, participated in the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative for Exceptional Children's Professional Action Network and presented at the spring SERTAC. Her presentation, titled 'Embedding Spatial Language: Building Orientation & Mobility Skills Through Everyday Instruction,' was both informative and instrumental in raising awareness about O&M among others. Danielle's hard work and dedication to the vision field and her students are truly commendable.

On Saturday of in-person weekend, our O&M students taught the TVI students basic O&M. The TVIs then traveled under low vision and blind simulation to the Local Taco where they ordered, found seating and ate all while still being under simulation. Students in our program had the opportunity to apply skills learned the day before by the DeafBlind Project. Thank you Local Taco on Limestone for being such gracious hosts and allowing our students this learning opportunity.
