Another one of our members, Celeste Rummell, also had a great internship experience this summer!

“I had a great summer with Pretty Prairie Farms in Howe, IN. I learned a lot about agronomy, seed corn and soybeans, chemicals, marketing, irrigation, management, forestry, and of course equipment operation. Overall, it was a diverse experience and I’m very greatful for the opportunity to work with them!”

Second year Ag Club member Jamy Hunt had a great summer with Mercer Landmark!

“This summer, I was able to work as a grain and agronomy intern for Mercer Landmark. This agricultural cooperative is made of 5 business units that work together to bring value to their growers and their operations. I was able to spend time in each of these units especially in the grain and agronomy units. I was able to learn about grain operations, different grain marketing strategies, grain grading, stages of crop growth, application of different pesticides, and how to crop scout effectively. I was able to apply what I had learned in the classroom in a hand-on matter. Some of the highlights of my experience include loading a train with grain, and meeting growers in their fields. This experience allowed me to network and build lasting relationships with growers around my local area. Mercer Landmark truly cares about their interns and ensure that the experience is tailored to students’ goals in the agricultural industry. I recommend this experience especially if you are looking for a hands-on application with a leading business in the agricultural industry.”

Three members of the UNOH Ag club attended the Farm Bureau Young Ag Professionals Conference in February. They had a great time networking and learning about important agricultural issues and they look forward to carrying this knowledge with them as they progress in the industry!
