REMINDER

Hello Fellow Students,

The results of the poll are in and we will be scheduling the meeting for February 25th from 5-6 PM with FREE FOOD. As 95% of the responses were from students who work in Manter, we will have the meeting there in Manter 103. We will send a reminder email next week.

The goal of this meeting is to decide the future direction of BGSA and discuss any issues that graduate students are having. It is our goal to include both GCMB and EEB students but communication is a two way street and input from both sides is needed.

If you did not respond to the doodle poll that you were going to attend but still plan on attending please respond to the poll (http://doodle.com/9c4m4p6abrgffs99) or email BGSA ([email protected]).

Thank you,

If you're interested in learning about doing research in Europe, please send me an e-mail: [email protected].

The speaker next week, Dr. Kenneth Stedman, has extensive experience doing research in Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. He received various European research fellowships to work in Europe: Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellowship, NSF-NATO postdoctoral fellowship, and Humboldt research fellowship.

He kindly agreed to meet with grad students to share his wisdom about research in Europe and how to get postdoctoral fellowships to work in Europe.

BGSA BBQ

09/03/2014

To: All SBS Students, Staff and Faculty

Please join us for an SBS welcome barbecue on Saturday, September 6th at Holmes Lake starting at 4:00pm.

Come get to know your colleagues and enjoy the last of the beautiful summer weather outside! BGSA will provide charcoal and food to grill--hopefully enough for everybody. Please feel free to bring a dish to share (or not), and don’t forget to bring your preferred non-alcoholic beverage. We'll be at the picnic tables right off Normal Blvd/Billy Wolff trail (see attached map and directions below). All graduate students, post-docs, staff and faculty are welcome, as are significant others and children.

If you need a ride or are able to provide a ride to those without transportation, please email BGSA ([email protected]) with “BBQ Ride” in the subject line and we will compile a list.

See you there!
