Congratulations to Kiarash, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Kiarash will continue into a PhD program in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. So far, one Kiarash’s favorite memory has been, “Working in the lab, which is very well equipped, and also working with my advisor, David Admiraal, who is one of the most brilliant teachers and mentors I have ever known, was the best experience and the best memory I have from studying at University of Nebraska–Lincoln.”

Congratulations to Mahazabin, one of today’s featured . “After graduation, I’ll be continuing my journey as a PhD student in chemical engineering. I’m working on sustainable energy systems like green hydrogen and ammonia production and I’m really excited to keep growing in this field and contribute to solutions for a cleaner future.”

Her favorite memory so far has been, “was participating in UNL Student Research Days this year and receiving an honorable mention for my poster. I was honestly a bit nervous presenting at first but it turned into such a proud and happy moment. Getting recognized for something I had worked so hard on made it really special and it’s a memory I’ll always carry with me.”

Muhammad’s “favorite memory is walking across the beautiful campus in the fall when the leaves turn red and gold.” Which he will get to enjoy a little longer because, after graduation, Muhammad will “continue as a postdoctoral researcher with my current advisor at UNL. Congratulations to Tawfiq, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Tawfiq said he was, “Not ready to retire from studying yet! Congratulations to Dr. Kesteloot, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Kurt will “continue to serve in the United States Public Health Service for a few more years. After my service, or potentially during the next few years I hope to give back to the engineering profession by teaching part time and eventually full time.” Kurt’s favorite memories have been “Supporting Engineers Without Borders students and other students while working full time on drinking water and wastewater systems nationwide.”

Congratulations to Sahand, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Sahand will “continue pursuing roles in industry, ideally ones related to materials science and process engineering. I’m especially interested in work where I can apply what I learned during my PhD journey to solve practical engineering problems.”

He noted his “favorite memory is from the HiRe-ME (High School Research in Molecular Engineering) summer camp with high schoolers, where we as officers of the electrochemical society (ECS) student chapter did fantastic teamwork. We carried out some interesting electrochemical experiments and were able to interest high school students in electrochemistry. Later, it was featured in ECS’s global journal and we received great feedback.”

Congratulations to Md Rashedul Hasan, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Rashedul said he “plans to continue my Ph.D. studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, focusing on advancing research in artificial intelligence and software engineering. My long-term goal is to pursue a research-focused tenure-track faculty position, contributing to the fields of AI, SE-focused technology development, and scientific discovery through impactful publications and collaborations.”

Rashedul has many favorite memories from UNL and noted, “Some of my most memorable experiences include receiving multiple honors such as the Milton E. Mohr Fellowship, the Mary E. and Elmer H. Dohrmann Fellowship, and the Most Improved Doctoral Candidate Award from the School of Computing. Presenting my research at the ACM Joint European Software Engineering Conference and Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (ACM FSE) 2025, supported by the SIGSOFT CAPS and UNL Graduate Studies Travel Awards, was a particular highlight that reinforced my passion for academic research and global scholarly engagement.” Many more great memories and accomplishments to come!

Congratulations to Simon, one of today’s featured . After graduation, Simon “will join Firefly Aerospace in Cedar Park, TX as a Spacecraft Mechanisms Engineer. This is close to a dream role for me, and I couldn't be more excited to contribute to future missions to the moon.”

He noted some of his favorite memories at UNL “have been made on trips with my friends and lab mates for conferences and research opportunities across the country. Highlights include presenting my research to an international audience, testing astronaut tools with peers at NASA, and enjoying local food and activities with my lab mates.”
