When he first started applying to acting programs, Nebraska wasn’t on Melkie Sherman’s radar. But a chance audition changed everything for this Southern Californian.

Meet a Husker preserving Nebraska’s beautiful landscapes 🌾

Emma grew up helping her dad, now a restoration director at Prairie Plains, in the field. Since then, she has rediscovered her love for the work and this summer, they are working side-by-side to conserve the state’s grasslands.

“Being out in the field with my dad one day, I had a moment where I was like, “Oh, this is what I've been looking for. This is what I want to do.’ Finding my way back has been really, really beautiful.”
