Gaston College Cosmetology, Esthetics & Manicuring

The Cosmetology, Esthetics and Manicuring programs are located on the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College in the Cochrane Science and Technology Building.

All programs offer services to the public. Please see page for more details. The cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills. Course work includes instruction in

all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics. Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses.

Beauty Wellness 101
June 22 from 9 am until 3 pm at the Lincoln Campus

Learn how to take care of your hair, skin, and nails. This camp includes a service from our student clinic, such as, manicure, pedicure, shampoo/style, or facial.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, Gaston College’s Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Manicuring programs proudly hosted our second annual Career Day. This event provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with professionals from salons, spas, product supply companies, and other areas of the beauty and wellness industry.

Career Day offered invaluable access to industry knowledge, real-world experience, and career guidance from seasoned professionals. Through meaningful conversations and networking opportunities, students gained insight into current trends, expectations, and pathways for success, helping them feel more confident and prepared as they transition from the classroom into their future careers.

About the Program
The Esthetics Program is a 9 month, 2 semester certificate offered at the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College. Students begin each August and graduate the following May—fully prepared for a rewarding career in skincare.

During October, our Cosmetology and Esthetics students raised funds to benefit The Woman in Pink, a nonprofit founded to provide free, high-quality wigs for cancer patients. Recognizing the difficulty of finding affordable wigs, The Woman in Pink offers wigs valued at $300–$500 along with cleaning and styling products, a wig stand, comb, headscarves, and hats—at no cost to patients, regardless of cancer type.

Thanks to this year’s fundraising efforts, The Woman in Pink will be able to purchase 12 new wigs, helping more patients feel confident and supported during treatment.
