It is Meet your Faculty Friday and today we are featuring a well-known and beloved faculty face at LLCC-Litchfield: Dr. Colin Suchland!

Hello! I'm Dr. Colin Suchland, PhD, and I am celebrating 13 years on the faculty here at LLCC. I've been lucky to teach at our Litchfield campus for most of my career, although at times I feel like I spend half my waking hours on Interstate 55. Outside of the college, I work as a newspaper journalist and photographer down in St. Louis, which is where I live with my wife and our four teenagers. (Pray for us!) We are a family that loves movies, live music, the outdoors (when it is not scorching hot) and most of all travel. (We went to Montreal, Canada this summer.)

I hope to see you in a sociology class soon!

LLCC-Litchfield is proud to sponsor the Illinois Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom exhibit at the Hillsboro Public Library in Hillsboro, IL.

This powerful exhibit shares the stories of courageous individuals in Illinois who risked everything in pursuit of freedom and the communities that helped make their journeys possible. It is an opportunity to learn more about a significant chapter in our nation's history and reflect on the enduring impact of these stories today.

We encourage everyone to stop by the library and experience this moving exhibit where history comes alive through the voices and experiences of those who shaped it.

The exhibit is open until September 3rd during regular library hours:

It is time for Meet Our Faculty Friday!

First up, is an amazing instructor who is creative, energetic, and goes above and beyond for LLCC students: Amy Delap

Amy teaches Biology 101 at both the Litchfield and Taylorville locations for LLCC and always strives to make her courses as exciting as possible, while showing students science can be fun and relevant to their everyday lives!

When asked what she loves about teaching college, Amy had this to say: “I love finding out where students are at, meeting them there and challenging them to take it further-whether it is with their understanding of Biology, their ways of looking at the world, their studying and note taking techniques or their dreams of the future. I also love learning from students. They often challenge me to see the world in different ways!”

The countdown to fall classes is on!

Our LLCC-Litchfield team enjoyed hosting Logger Launch last Friday and helping students get ready for a successful semester. Students connected with campus resources, toured the center, ordered books, explored technology, and mapped out their plans for a strong start to the year.

We can't wait to welcome our new and returning students for the start of the fall semester. Here's to a great year ahead, Loggers!
