Careers and Skills in the Automotive Industry was the exciting focus today for day three of our Career Quest Camp: Try a Trade at the SCI Center!

Students participated in a guess the car part and tire change activity at the center with LLCC Assistant Professor of Auto Technology, Brian Earley, and then toured Ronco’s Autobody Tire and Wheel in Litchfield, IL, where they took a turn at changing and balancing tires.

Thank you to Ronco’s for allowing the students to come by, and to Brayden Ronco (a former SCI student), Brittany Ronco, and Eric Simmons for sharing great information, leading activities, and giving tours!

It was a great day two of our LLCC Career Quest Camp: Try a Trade at the SCI Center!

Today, campers learned about concrete work with LLCC instructor, Logan Isaacs. They practiced setting forms, pouring, and finishing-and learned that you have to move quickly and accurately when working with concrete!

Today was Buzzing with excitement at LLCC-Litchfield! 🐝

We loved welcoming community members and local Girl Scouts for a fun and interactive morning all about bees! Guests had the chance to taste honey, observe a queen bee and her colony up close, visit our beehives, and even decorate hive boxes for the new colonies arriving soon.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we are so glad you were part of the day!

A special thank you to Dave Cox, LLCC Professor of Biology, and his son Ian for leading such an engaging and informative experience—we appreciate you sharing your knowledge and passion with our community!

It is the kick off to our next Summer Career Quest Camp! This week the Try a Trade camp at the SCI Center will give students the opportunity to explore different workforce careers with hands-on activities.

Today they started with a tour of the Poettker Construction site at Staunton High School to see first hand all the different trades at work in a project of that size!

Tomorrow is Bee Day here at LLCC-Litchfield from 10 am-12 pm!

We would love for you to stop by our open-house style event all about honey bees, pollination, and local beekeeping!

All are welcome—no registration required

What to Expect:
See the bees
Sample honey
Chat with beekeepers
Adopt a beehive
Participate in kid's activites
Enter for a chance to win a prize

Do you want to get up close and inspect the hive?
If so, please wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. Protective gear will be available.

That’s a wrap on this week’s LLCC Career Quest: Build.Code.Create Camp at HHS!

The campers spent their final day solving word puzzles and working with code.org. They learned base building blocks of coding, discussed what an if statement is, and how it changes the complexity of the code that is written. The day ended with a final guest speaker, Ben Saboff, a software engineer at Boeing. He talked to the class about the different careers he has had and how jets and airplanes work.

Thank you to Mr. Polus for leading a great week of fun and learning, and to all the guest speakers and people in our community who spent time with the students sharing their own experiences with technology and developing innovative solutions and business!

It's been an exciting two days at the LLCC Career Quest Camp at HHS!

Yesterday the students took a field trip to JarDog AI. where COO Jordan Hewitt took them on a tour, gave an explanation of AI fundamentals, and demonstrated the app that they developed.

Today, Dylan Richter, former DoorDash employee and Sweet Spot owner, visited to talk about his experience and lessons in solving problems that helped build the delivery service app into what it is today. Then the students took a short field trip to the Sweet Spot for a treat!
