Our Engineering Technology students had an exciting and educational visit to the Greene County Electric Generation Plant in Forkland, AL!

A group of 36 students and faculty toured the gas-powered generation facility, gaining firsthand insight into real-world industrial operations, power generation, and career pathways in the energy sector.

We were especially proud to reconnect with The University of West Alabama's alumni Jennifer Cassity, Cason Moss, who work at the plant. Cason spoke with our students about how the coursework and hands-on training he received at UWA directly support his daily responsibilities on the job.

Dr. Miller from Division of Engineering Technology and Dr. Nicklas from BlackBelt STEM Institute from The University of West Alabama attended the Literacy Night event at Southview Elementary School Tuscaloosa. The event introduced students about line following robots.

Last spring, three engineering technology students designed a high-tech prototype mascot head for their senior capstone project aimed at making mascot duty more comfortable in the Alabama heat.

April 10th marked a significant milestone for the Division of Engineering Technology with the inauguration of the Epsilon Beta Chapter of the Epsilon Pi Tau honor society. During the event, students and faculty were formally inducted into the newly established chapter.

University Scholars Awards, the Darryl Hutcheson Scholarship Award, and the QEP Awards, were presented. These awards recognizes outstanding student achievement and academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities.

Students from the Division of Engineering Technology visited the Georgia-Pacific plant in Pennington, AL, on April 4th. During the visit, they learned about various aspects of plant operations and explored potential career pathways.

Engineering Technology students and faculty visited Showcase Mobile event in Mobile on March 23, 24 and 25. During the trip students visited several industries in Mobile region and also took part in career fair on March 25th.

On February 27, 2025, students and faculty from Division of Engineering Technology had the incredible opportunity to visit Lavender Inc. in Aliceville, AL. During the visit, students gained valuable insights into the company's operations, explored potential career opportunities.
