Call for study participants: National Survey for School Leaders on the Current Political Climate

The UCEA Voices from the Field project is a long-running, respected initiative that has studied the realities of school and district leadership since 1996. Now in its fifth phase, the current study (Voices V) is focused on engaging with issues of race and leadership preparation. Voices is seeking current school or district administrators, as well as recent graduates of leadership preparation programs, to participate in either a one-on-one interview or a focus group, each lasting approximately one hour. To participate, you must be a K-12 building or district administrator, and you must have completed a leadership preparation program, endorsement or certificate between 2017-2024.

Have you met our NEW Faculty Program Coordinator for the Instructional USU Instructional Leadership Program yet?

Heather Newell received her undergraduate degree as well as her special education teacher certification from Utah State University. Her master’s degree is from the University of Utah in Educational Leadership and Policy. She worked in Salt Lake City School District for 19 years as a paraeducator, special education teacher, 504 Coordinator, data specialist, assistant principal and as the principal of Backman Elementary School. She also worked at the State Board of Education in the Center for Continuous School improvement before joining the Teacher Education and Leadership Department at Utah State. Her interests are in inclusion, equity, cultural humility, restorative practices, and experiential education.
