Class spotlight: JCOM 4530 / HPI 4910 — Peace Posting: Media Tools for Conflict Resolution

• Using the foundational principles of peace building, you will seek truth, and learn to analyze how the media has achieved conflict resolution both historically and currently.
• Review case studies including the first televised war, the first woman’s newspaper and its influence on the woman’s suffrage movement, and how social media affects the perceptions of immigration.
• You will then take these media tools and learn how to “peace post” in a media campaign of your choice.

He worked in television news in the Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, and Salt Lake City markets. He still works freelance and tries to bring all that experience to the classroom.
