The Summer Concert Series is back at the Japanese Garden, taking place every Friday from July 10 through August 28, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. At only $10 per person, guests are welcome to bring blankets or chairs, as well as their own food and beverages, to enjoy while listening to live music and taking in the beautiful views as the sun sets over the Garden.

Exciting news, lifelong learners 📚💭

On June 16, 2026, registration opens for the summer session at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at California State University, Long Beach. Learn from vibrant lineup of more than 61 classes covering topics such as tech skills, music, art, fitness, foreign languages, writing, movies, history, personal finance, dance, and more. Dive into engaging in-person sessions on campus or at local community locations, or join online via Zoom.

The eight-week sessions kick off July 6, 2026, and are perfect for adults 50 and older who are ready to learn, connect, and grow. Don’t miss out – take advantage of the special prorated $20 annual membership fee for 2026, with classes only $15 each!

This celebrates the incredible talent of Jonathan Michael Castillo ’13, a Chicago-based visual artist, photographer, and educator. From creating a visionary large-scale installation at O’Hare International Airport to contributing to Chicago’s Citywide Plan through a commissioned project, his work has been featured at prestigious institutions and exhibitions, including the Art Institute of Chicago and Photo LA.

Join us in congratulating Jonathan 👏🎉 on two remarkable achievements: being named a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow and receiving the 2026 Joyce Foundation Artadia Award 🏆.
