Dr. Jim Taylor, the Director of Fine Arts at LeTourneau, has always had an affinity for music. Self-taught ukulele at 8. Guitar at 10. Pop piano at 14. Rock bands as a teenager. Fast forward through a Music Composition degree, a doctorate in Choral Conducting, and a Carnegie Hall podium — and he still plays vintage '60s and '70s pop around East Texas most weekends.
This Thursday, that same passion takes the stage for the Inspire Seminar Series.
Dr. Taylor will perform live music, and engage with the audience throughout as he explores "The History of Rock Music."

The Athletic and Human Performance Air dome is making a space for LeTourneau athletes and the Longview community. At its dedication, President Steven Mason captured exactly why this space matters: "There's nothing we do — inside or outside the classroom, on the court, on the pitch, on the track, in the café, in any corner of campus — that isn't illumined and animated by Jesus Christ."

On August 19th, 2026, the YellowJacket family gathered to celebrate the dedication and grand opening of LeTourneau University's Athletic & Human Performance Air Dome — a space years in the making and a testament to God's faithfulness.
In the spirit of R.G. LeTourneau's ingenuity, entrepreneurship, and heart for evangelism and discipleship, this new space brings together cutting-edge research, academic life, and athletic excellence under one roof.

LeTourneau's Athletic & Human Performance Air Dome is officially open to the public and we’re making headlines! As a key pillar of campus, the Air Dome provides a learning lab for academic excellence, a space for the cultivation of disciples, and also a venue to come alongside student-athletes and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. In addition to that, our campus community is thrilled for the way the Air Dome will continue to strengthen our connection with Longview and East Texas as it serves as a competitive space for the region. Our prayer is that the Air Dome will be an ongoing blessing to all those who encounter it.

The Air Dome is open.

This afternoon LeTourneau University dedicated the Athletic & Human Performance Air Dome, and for the first time, the doors were open to everyone who's been watching it go up.

If you've driven near campus over the last two years, you watched this happen. Ground broken in November 2024, the dome inflated last September, and today, a ribbon cutting.

Inside is a 200-meter banked track with room for 1,500, the PING Performance Lab, team rooms, athletic training space, and academic labs for our kinesiology and biomedical engineering students.

Every bit of it paid for by people who gave. Two years from groundbreaking to today. Built with purpose, funded by people who believed it should exist.
