Two weeks of learning, growth, and FUN! ☀️📚✨
Our Upward Bound scholars have been hard at work in English, Reading, Science, Math, Word Processing, and College & Career Readiness while also hearing from inspiring guest speakers, including ASAPP, the Department of Counseling Services, Mr. Christian Summerville, and Mr. Dillan West from Alcorn’s AIM Forward Initiative.
We’re excited to partner with AIM Forward as students learn about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and what it takes to start their own businesses! 💡💰
The competition is on with our House Challenges, where scholars are earning points, building teamwork, and having a great time along the way. 🏆🔥
We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings!

So proud of our Upward Bound scholars for bringing home 3rd place at the SAEOPP Regional Academic Competition in Atlanta, GA! 🎉 It was also Alcorn’s first time representing in several years, making this achievement even more special. Their hard work, focus, and teamwork truly shined in the High-Q event. Keep aiming high and pushing forward, this is just the beginning!

TRIO’s All White Banquet was a night to remember! Hosted in collaboration by Alcorn State University’s Upward Bound and Talent Search programs, the event radiated class and sophistication. Our students truly shined and enjoyed every moment of this unforgettable celebration! 🤍

Week 2 of Upward Bound was packed with fun and learning! 🎉 Students built teamwork skills through exciting competitions 🤝, got hands-on with agriculture by creating model aquifers 💧🌱, and dove into history at the Two Mississippi Museums 🏛️. A museum scavenger hunt 🔍 turned the visit into an interactive adventure as students raced to solve clues and unlock a mystery! 🧩✨

Wrapping up an incredible first week of Upward Bound Summer Phase! 🌟 This week was filled with fun, discovery, and a whole lot of inspiration as our students kicked off the journey under this year’s theme: A.C.E.S – Achieve, Compete, Excel, and Succeed. Students were grouped into unique ‘houses,’ each with its own theme, and explored new ideas to find inspiration that will drive them throughout the summer. From teamwork to personal growth, the spirit of achievement is alive and thriving! Can’t wait to see what next week brings!
