“Fr. Buckley was an ardent supporter of the Student Worker Program and always sought to build up our community, enlarge our campus presence, and secure the principles of our founding. He formed many strong relationships with the individual Student Workers over the years and made impacts that will last lifetimes. Fr. Buckley never tired of affirming the important hard work and the indispensable role of the Student Workers within the LMU community. He was famous among Crew members for shouting at Student Workers from across campus and repeating his unofficial motto for the Crew, ‘Student Workers of the world unite!’” - Troy Kassien, senior SW
Just before Thanksgiving, we lost an invaluable member of our LMU community. Rev. Thomas Buckley, S.J. taught in the History Department from 1973 to 1998, and returned in 2012. Father Buckley was always a noble supporter of the Student Worker Program. We are honored that he is a part of our history and we will keep him with us during all of our jobs.

After our 2017 National Recyclemania Championship, LMU has been ranked the #6 most sustainable school in the country by the Sierra Club. Thank you to the university's wonderful employees in the Recycling Yard, without which we could not have received this recognition. The Student Worker Program is proud to have been working in the Yard since we established it in 1990!
