From experiencing the impacts of industrial activity in her hometown to developing solutions for cleaner water systems, Citlali Rodriguez is transforming lived experience into purposeful action. ๐Ÿ’งโš™๏ธ

At UCLA, Citlali found community through SOLES at UCLA, deepening her interest in environmental engineering, and gained hands-on experience through ASCE at UCLA. She is set to graduate in December and will continue her journey in water engineering, driven by a commitment to expanding access to clean water and environmental resources for underserved communities.

Her path reflects the impact of engineering rooted in real community needs. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒ

UCLA CEE Alum Ksh*tija Shah began her journey in Mumbai by starting an environmental protection club at age nine, driven by a belief that clean water should be a right, not a privilege.

At UCLA ๐ŸŽ“, she advanced this passion through research in biochemistry and environmental engineering, studying microbial systems and PFAS โ€œforever chemicalsโ€ to better understand how biology can help improve water treatment. ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ’ง

Today, sheโ€™s back in Mumbai applying that expertise in industryโ€”working to turn wastewater into a resource and advance more sustainable, circular systems for water, energy, and materials. โ™ป๏ธโšก๐ŸŒŠ

From early advocacy to UCLA research to real-world impact, her work reflects science in service of communities and the planet. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’™
