A Message from our Chancellor - September 30, 2022
Dear LACCD Colleagues:
Peaceful protests are at the heart of advocating for human rights and freedoms, and LACCD echoes the message of bringing an end to violence against women and oppression worldwide.
LACCD stands in solidarity with the courageous women of Iran and all around the world who seek to protect their human rights and freedoms. We cannot ignore the trauma and distress that may impact members of our community in response to the situation in Iran. As educators, we stand up against repression and all acts of discrimination around the world in response to the tragic death of 22-year old Mahsa Amini.
On Saturday, October 1, various organizations from many countries have launched an appeal for a global day of solidarity with the brave women and men in Iran who have inspired the world and a global call to end the violence. This event in Los Angeles will be held at Pershing Square at 10:30 a.m.
We offer our support to anyone who may be impacted. For faculty and staff, all mental health resources can be found on our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a confidential, no-cost, and a voluntary resource providing professional and emergency counseling services 24 hours a day.
