In honor of California Native American Day, we invite all students across the University of California (UC) system to learn more about the traditional caretakers of the lands the UC’s reside on. We all have a responsibility to uplift California Native peoples’ sovereignty, autonomy and freedom in and out of the UC system. Meanwhile, land acknowledgement goes beyond the repetition of a university statement. As Indigenous peoples our relationship is with land and place. Therefore, we must also respect the relationships that California Native peoples have with plant and animal relatives. We hope to encourage you to connect with the American Indian and Native American student centers on your UC campus to learn more about supporting local Native peoples and fellow California Native college students.🌳💕
Checkout https://native-land.ca for more information on traditional territories of Native peoples across turtle island!
