California Epsilon (UCLA) Phi Kappa Psi was founded in 1930, initiating its first members in 1931. Phi Psi had the first house on fraternity row and stayed for over 80 years, after which the alumni banded together to rebuild the house from the ground up. Completed in 2014, the new Phi Psi house features a state of the art, LEED-qualified building with amenities far beyond that on c
ampus. Phi Psi has always been a part of the fabric of UCLA: we founded and won UCLA’s first Spring Sing in 1945; Brother Ed Pauley funded the world-renowned basketball arena that bears his name; Brother Don Adams was the first person to receive a diploma from UCLA’s Medical School; Three-time All-American, Two-time National Champion, MVP and Olympian Brother Kirk Kilgour was a charter member of UCLA’s Athletics Hall of Fame; National Champions and All-Americans Brothers John Speraw and Mike Sealy currently serve as UCLA’s head coaches for men’s and women’s volleyball; visionary leader Brother Ralph Crump is the namesake for UCLA’s Crump Institute for Medical Engineering and the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging. Phi Psi brothers have set the highest standards at UCLA, and will continue to do so.
