Hollywood Awaits You, Temple! Welcome stars of tomorrow and leaders of today! What else can students expect from this program?

This is the official Temple University FMA Los Angeles Study Away Internship Program Page. This program is one of a kind, and offers students in the fields of film, broadcasting, theater, journalism, and advertising an experience like no other. The program is offered in the spring, summer, and fall semesters and allows students to gain hands-on experience in the entertainment capital of the world.

Students take courses that focus on Los Angeles culture, writing, and film, while interning with production companies, studios, PR firms, advertising agencies, music labels and talent agencies. Students have the opportunity to explore everything LA has to offer and to network with industry professionals. Here's what one of our current students says:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of longtime Temple University Film and Media Arts Professor Allan S. Barber on October 23, 2025, at the age of 78.

For nearly two decades, Allan served as the summer Faculty Director of the department’s LA Study Away Program, where he was a dedicated educator, mentor, and facilitator. Deeply committed to his students, Allan took great joy in their growth and success, guiding and supporting them in their creative and professional endeavors. His genuine care extended well beyond the classroom, as he maintained lasting connections with countless alumni throughout their careers.

Allan embraced life with humor, kindness, optimism, and creativity. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by his students, colleagues, and friends alike.
