How to Become a Cardiovascular Sonographer in Ontario, California 🫀

Cardiovascular Sonography brings together healthcare, technology, and patient care to help providers evaluate the heart and vascular system.

Through ultrasound imaging, cardiovascular sonographers capture important images and measurements that help physicians understand how the heart and blood vessels function.

Exploring MRI, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Cardiovascular Sonography Programs in Los Angeles & Ontario 🩻

If you’re exploring a career in medical imaging, you’ve probably noticed something right away: there isn’t just one path. Instead, there are several specialized roles, each with its own focus, technology, and patient experience.

At Smith Chason College, the Los Angeles and Ontario campuses offer training in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS), and Cardiovascular Sonography (Echocardiography/CVS). Each program leads to a different type of role in healthcare, but they share a common thread: using advanced imaging technology to help physicians diagnose and treat patients.

Whether you’re interested in structured imaging with MRI, hands-on scanning with DMS, or focusing on the heart and cardiovascular system with CVS, our latest blog breaks down what each program involves and how each campus supports your training.

What Is Echocardiography? A Beginner’s Guide to Heart Ultrasound 🫀

Echocardiography is one of the most important imaging tools for evaluating the heart.

Also known as an echo, heart ultrasound, or diagnostic cardiac ultrasound, echocardiography uses sound waves to create images of the heart’s structure, movement, and blood flow.

These images help healthcare providers better understand how the heart is working and whether certain conditions may be affecting the heart's chambers, valves, blood vessels, or overall function.

For students exploring a future in healthcare, echocardiography can be an exciting introduction to Cardiovascular Sonography.

Our latest blog explains how echocardiography works, the different types of heart ultrasound, why it matters in healthcare, and how Cardiovascular Sonography may be the next step in your healthcare journey.

This week is National Nurses Week. Every year, the American Nurses Association (ANA) designates May 6th through 12th to honor the strength, dedication, and perseverance of nurses in the field.

We are so proud of all of our Nursing students, staff, and faculty at Smith Chason College. Nursing is built on knowledge, compassion, resilience, and purpose.

Whether teaching future nurses, preparing for a career in patient care, or serving communities in the field, your dedication makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others. 💙

While we recognize that one week is not enough to capture the impact nurses have had on us, we want to use this time to express our gratitude for the work they do 24/7, 365 days a year.
