We are BEYOND THRILLED to have Sybil Azur as our commencement speaker for our Class of 2023! Sybil Azur is a writer, filmmaker, and community organizer focused on expanding the influence of underrepresented communities. Sybil is a former actress (The Game, Nip/Tuck, Scrubs) and former professional dancer for stage (world tours with Paula Abdul, Reba McEntire, Earth, Wind & Fire) and screen (Lala Land, Friends, 500 Days of Summer). She is also known for co-producing and co-directing the powerful documentary, PUSHING MOTHERHOOD. She holds a B.A. in African-American Studies and International Development Studies from UCLA, as well as a Screenwriting M.F.A. from Cal State University Northridge.
Sybil is the researcher for the ABC show Station 19 and recently adapted the novel WHY? into a screenplay, which is currently in preproduction. She was a 2021 Comedy Writing Fellow with the Television Academy Foundation and is honored to have placed in multiple screenwriting competitions.
In 2019, Sybil led the team that succeeded in getting the LA Unified School District to commit to 100% clean, renewable energy, and was humbled to be presented the 2022 Climate Reality Project Green Ring Award by former Vice President Al Gore. She is proud to be on the Board of Directors of Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives.
Sybil enjoys Yacht Rock, f***y packs, and preaching to the choir.

PUSHING MOTHERHOOD is a Kickstarter funded, feature-length documentary that examines the growing trend of deferred motherhood. The film is directed and produced by best friends Sybil Azur and Linda Cevallos-French, as they document their own journeys to become mothers later in life.
