The USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association (formerly the Asian Pacific American Support Group) connects and supports USC Alumni of Asian Pacific (encompassing ethnicities from Asia and the Pacific Rim) origin/descent with the university and one another lifelong and worldwide through meaningful and relevant programs. The APAA board of directors is comprised of different committees with a focus on sig

nature events, networking events and scholarship awards. The Asian Pacific American Support Group (APASG) was originally founded by Irene Hirano MPA'73, Frank Kwan'71, Kenneth Kasamatsu'68, Alan Kumamoto (1st APASG President), Dennis Kunisaki, Mary Kurushima, Michael Matsuda '82, Sarah Miyahira and Karen Wong JD '86. Chartered in 1982, the APASG organized alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends who were committed to quality services to Asian Pacific American undergraduates at USC. From its inception, the APASG has built a strong relationship with the office of Asian Pacific American Student Services (APASS), which coordinates and develops programs to meet a range of needs of Asian Pacific students. Since 1984, the APASG has annually distributed scholarships to students of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage.

Join the USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association Bay Area Committee and East Bay Trojan Network for a scenic spring hike at Lake Chabot Regional Park.

We’ll take on the scenic Ten Hills / East Shore Loop, beginning at the Lake Chabot Marina Café (note: not the AllTrails trailhead). This moderately challenging 3.6-mile loop includes approximately 450 feet of elevation gain and features beautiful lake views, rolling hills, wildflowers, and shaded oak woodland.

Expect a relaxed, social pace with regrouping along the way. The hike will take approximately 1.5–2 hours and includes mostly dirt trails, with some paved shoreline sections and scenic overlooks.

After the hike, those interested are invited to continue the conversation over lunch nearby (location TBD).

Registration fee: $5 donation to APAA Scholarship fund

On April 11, we were honored to welcome Beong-Soo Kim, the 13th president of the University of Southern California, to our 2026 APAA Scholarship & Awards Gala. It was especially meaningful for our guests and honorees, since President Kim is the first USC president of API descent.

We celebrated our scholarship recipients and APAA honorees and raised over $50k for our scholarship endowment.  It was truly a philanthropic event well celebrated with the Trojan family!

Fight on! ✌️
