NYU LA held its inaugural PitchFest this past November, and it was a fantastic success.
Over 90 scripts were received in just over a month of open submission, and the quality across the board was impressive. Ultimately the strongest 19 projects were selected..
The winning writers first met for a Bootcamp session, where they attended a pitching workshop conducted by Crystal Boyd, NYU LA professor, multi-hyphenate TV creator/actor/writer and CEO of How to Pitch TV. Then all writers got the chance to practice their pitches and receive feedback form a group of industry professionals, NYU faculty, and each other.
The second session was the official PitchFest. The writers got to present their projects to a panel of executives and reps from New Line Cinema, Amblin Television, Sony Animation, Industry Entertainment, Dynamic Television, Dropout Studios, Good Fear Management, MM8, and 13 Films.
We’re already hearing of successful connections being made among the panelists and the writers and can’t wait to see what develops.
Missed out on the chance to participate in this year’s PitchFest? Keep an eye out for an announcement about future iterations.
Congrats again to all of the winning writers!
