UCLA Bruin Strong

UCLA Bruin Strong Project Bruin Strong is a multi-media project that explores the idea of 'resilience' by highlighting stories from both students and faculty.

This project is a collaboration between UCLA College Academic Counseling, the School of Arts and Architecture, the Office for Student and Campus Resilience, and Studio 22.

The Office of Residential Life helps students that are living on the hill to feel like they’re part of a larger family. They are in charge of creating quarterly events, activities, and film nights for all students. All Resident Directors, Assistant Resident Directors, and Residential Assistants are trained to better support students and supporting students academically and emotionally.

Through Reslife, there are also Learning Centers and Computer Labs in various location through out The Hill. Students can also make room reservations online during Midterms or Finals for study groups. There is also Studio 22 and The Maker’s Space, where students can get help with music/video production, film making, 3D printing, art, etc.

The Student Organizations, Leadership & Engagement (SOLE) office advises over 1200 campus organizations. SOLE collaborates with other on-campus services and departments, like UCLA Recreation, UCLA events, etc, to provide more resources and flexibility for planning events and activities. All organization must register every academic year to receive helps, possibly funding, and other benefits through SOLE.

The Bruin Resource Center (BRC) provides different resources, services, and learning opportunities for all students, but focuses most on serving current/former foster youth, students with dependents, students in recovery, students veterans, transfer students, and undocumented students. They try to cultivate community, and give support those who need it, in other words, to Connect. Support. Achieve.

They are located in Student Activities Center (SAC), Room B44. They’re open Monday-Fridays from 9-5:00 pm. Students are welcomed to study or simply hang out at the BRC during these hours. You can find more information on their website:

The John Wooden Center is the on campus gym for students, staff, and faculty (located right next to the Bruin Bear). All students have access to the gym (due to the membership being paid for as part of your tuition). Wooden has a strength and conditioning area, circuit training, rock wall climbing, cardio room, and much more. Undergraduate parenting students can also receive free child care at the Little Bruin Clubhouse during the academic year for children that are potty trained-14 years of age during designated hours.

For those who want to take a class, Wooden offers a variety of martial arts, yoga, dance, and music classes by paying for registration online. You can even purchase a pass to get unlimited fitness, yoga or martial arts classes through out the quarter.

The Ashe Center is the on-campus clinic for students to go to for regular check ups, therapy, lab work, and emergencies. You can still go here for emergencies, even if you don’t have UC SHIP. All charges from the Ashe Center are sent to your Bruin Bill. They have a variety of services including:

First Floor: Scheduling, Radiology/lab, and clinic space.
Second Floor: Clinic Space.
Third Floor: ASAP clinic/Walk-in Clinic, Acupuncture/Massage & Immunizations.
Fourth Floor: Physical Therapy.

During the academic year, they are open:
Monday-Thursday: 8am-5pm
Friday: 9am-4:40pm
Saturdays: 9am-12pm (Walk-ins only)

All Bruins need to know how to use myucla.edu. This is UCLA’s specific website for students, staff, and faculty.

Once logged in, students can see their Study List, Plan/Enroll for their classes or check their GPA under the Classes tab.

Students can even run their own Audit Degree, Declare Candidacy Term or Declare Non-Attendance if ever needed under the Academics tab.

Under Finances and Jobs, students can access their Bruin Bill or any inquiries/notifications from the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

The Campus Life and Other Student Services tabs have many more features that students can use to find more about Health & Safety, Parking, Housing, and even Dining!

UCLA's Registrar Office has all the information students need on the schedule of classes including the general catalog and term calendar.
They also can give students further details on general requirements, such as GE courses, Writing II, Foreign Language, and the Diversity requirement. They also provide other student services such as transcripts, diplomas, transfer credit, etc.
They can be reached at 310-206-4520 for any questions/inquiries. They’re located in 1113 Murphy Hall, open Monday-Friday from 9-4 pm.

The Center for Community Learning (CCL) helps undergraduate students find internships, scholarships, and engagement opportunities that promote citizenship and leadership. CCL also offers students that are in their junior or senior year the opportunity to be a part of a variety of rigorous academic courses that allow them to actively participate in their community. CCL administers the Civic Engagement and Disabilities Studies minor, the Astin Scholars Program, and is home of AmeriCorps Jumpstart and the JusticeCorps program. The Scholarship Resource Center has drop-in scholarship counseling so students can go and ask how to look for scholarships, about the process on applying for them, etc. They also guide students on how to look for scholarship opportunities through books, listings, and resource guides. They even offer individual counseling when filling out an application, provide essay writing support, and quarterly workshops. Individual counseling can be through a 30-minute appointment or even by phone by calling (310) 206-2875. They are located on the second floor of Covel Commons, Room 233.

FYE specializes in guiding and supporting first-year students and first-year transfers on their transition to UCLA. Through a collaborative approach with Residential Life and Student Affairs, FYE helps students navigate campus resources, provides programming, and offers research information to students.
