On August 10, 2020, the Supreme Court of California handed victims of police brutality a comprehensive victory which allows them to more fully address violations of their civil rights. The case is B.B. v. County of Los Angeles.
USCMT Head Coach Olu K. Orange argued the knee-on-neck case before the CA Supremes -- having earlier won the case at trial with USCMT alumna Yasmin Fardghassemi and fellow attorneys John Sweeney (USC alumnus) and Carl Douglas (of O.J. Simpson notoriety).
This work is consistent with the long-time perspective our Program embraces. To quote Charles Hamilton Houston, "a lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite upon society." USCMT members are trained to be the former.
