A good video about the current debate on mental illness and gun violence!

The assertion that severe mental illnesses cause gun violence, specifically mass shootings, is not helpful and not accurate, but it is harmful. It is a dangerous idea. And we hear it from the media and our leaders all the time. Worse, no one ever seems to ask people with mental health disabilities w...

On Sept. 7, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee voted to advance H.R. 620, a bill originally introduced by Texas Rep. Ted Poe in January. If you're wondering what H.R. 620 is, it's a bill that critics are saying puts the basic civil rights of Americanโ€ฆ

Hi everyone! We are a new club at Oxy that serves to provide a space that allows students with disabilities to relate to one another and discuss their identities as well as advocate for disability rights both on and off campus. Being disabled is often incredibly alienating, and many struggle simply to identify themselves as disabled, even though 20% of the US population has a disability. This is especially true of people our age, as there are certain societal expectations of us that we cannot necessarily adhere to. In addition, we will advocate for disability rights, centering around accessibility, intersectionality, and awareness.
