The Department of History invites you to attend the upcoming Gottschalk Lecture featuring Dr. Liza Black (Indiana University), Associate Professor of History and Native American & Indigenous Studies.
Dr. Black will present:
“How Settlers Get Away with Murder: The Killing of Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit People in the Americas.”
This lecture offers a forensic historical analysis of systemic violence targeting Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people. Moving beyond isolated cases, Dr. Black examines how jurisdictional structures, legal archives, and state power operate within a settler-colonial framework to enable and obscure ongoing violence.

This event is sponsored by the University of Louisville History Department, Pan African Studies Dept, and the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research.
