Stop #2: York!

York feels like a city where history presses close on every street, with medieval stone, crooked timber buildings, and cathedral bells shaping the atmosphere. The narrow lane known as The Shambles is famous for its leaning shopfronts and is often said to have inspired parts of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’s Diagon Alley atmosphere. Encircling much of the old city are the ancient York City Walls, where visitors can walk above the streets and look out over centuries of history. York is also known as one of England’s most haunted cities, filled with ghost stories about Roman soldiers, hidden plague victims, and shadowy figures said to wander its old alleys after dark. Beneath it all stands the magnificent York Minster, giving the city a feeling that is both sacred and mysterious.

Graduation pictures are fun and happy. Here's what we want you LCU graduates to know: we love you and we'll miss you. You remind us on this glad day that the world is a good place because of people like you. Our majors come along, every semester, and they are hopeful and bright-eyed and show us what is possible—you made this place better because you were here.

Our senior presenters continue to shine.

Senior Martie McCoy discussed how a Christ-centered worldview impacts a lawyer's practice; JoAnna McAdams explored how C.S. Lewis viewed the self in connection to Eden/Paradise in his works, The Magician's Nephew and Perlandra; Rachel Davison focused on film depictions of Superman's "humanity" and the ideological implications. Aaron Evers completed an internship with our department, analyzing our website and the impact of our digital footprint.

Their work represents a culmination of extensive research and synthesis, and we continue to be impressed by their love for learning and their expertise.
