We are proud and excited to announce that our former president, Sarah Patterson, took part in this vital handbook for landowners all across Texas!

Her research and assistance played a key role in the development of this second edition of Five Strands: A Landowner's Guide to Fence Law in Texas. If you're a rural landowner in Texas, take a look at this handbook for guidance on your fence law issues.

The Tech Law Agricultural Law Association will continue to play a role in Texas agricultural law in the years to come!

Back in 2017, we published Five Strands: A Landowner’s Guide to Fence Law in Texas. This handbook was the first resource of its kind to gather together information about Texas fence law in one easy-to-read, landowner-friendly publication. Thanks to you all, it was extremely popular. Now, five year...

This past weekend, your Texas Tech Agricultural Law Association made a trip out to the National Ranching Heritage Center to help out with their annual Ranch Day.

ALA helped a ton of kiddos design their own cattle brands and even let them brand a cow while the iron was still hot. Who knew that pipe cleaners and some paint would be such a great time!

It's always an honor to make it out to the National Ranch Heritage Center and help them showcase the history and culture of American agriculture. Thank you for having us!

Our 1L Representative is Cahil Murchison, a 1L planning to practice energy and agricultural law after graduation.

Cahil is from Lockhart, Texas, which is just south of Austin. His family has been involved in Texas agriculture in many ways. They've been ranching in Texas since the 1830s, and his father is a Special Ranger for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers. Growing up, he showed goats, sheep, and swine, played many sports, and was a national champion 4-H livestock judge in 2017.

Cahil graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Leadership and Development from Texas A&M, along with a minor in History. He loves spending time with his wife and family (which include his pets), traveling, reading, writing, barbequing, and watching sports.

While at Texas Tech Law, Cahil has competed in the 1L Negotiations Competition, is a member of the Federalist Society, and is looking forward to the many opportunities that will present themselves as law school continues.

Cahil hopes to find a career in agricultural law/policy preferably in Lubbock or the Austin area but is open to whatever opportunity presents itself.
