Did you know the Spanish Renaissance and Plateresque Architecture you see on TTU campus was developed by William Ward Watkin? He was selected in 1923 by the College’s Board of Directors to design the new campus. He was inspired by his travels in Spain and based his façade design on Spanish architect Rodrigo Gil de Ontañon’s 1553 redesign of the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares and was also inspired by the archbishop’s palace in Alcalá.
