Our Spain group finished off our Granada weekend by taking the opportunity to experience more of the culture in this fantastic city. We went to a flamenco show and then were treated like friends and family at an authentic Moroccan restaurant. (If you are ever in Granada, try out Restaurante Arrayanes - tell them the group from Lubbock sent you!)

It was an awesome night and a great way to cap off the weekend.

Oh, the places you will go … this week!

This weekend our students and staff stayed in Ávila (and saw a magic show), went to El Escorial, went to Madrid (to sightsee and shop), went to Sevilla (to see one of largest cathedrals in the world, as well as the Las Setas), and went to Switzerland.

One of the blessings of our Semester in Spain is students get to enjoy local life as well as the sights in a complete other country.

The Semester in Spain 2026 group has arrived in Ávila and have had a week to get situated and explore the city. After a week of orientation in Lubbock, the group was excited to finally be here and we have enjoyed getting to know our new “home.”

We are grateful for Universidad Católica de Ávila providing us our accommodations and helping with this transition and look forward to more opportunities to share time together with them this fall.

Next up for us? The annual Medieval Festival, celebrating the three cultures that are so entwined throughout the history of Spain.

We are closing in on single digit days before our next group heads to Spain for a semester of studying abroad. As you can see from these images of our group that went in 2023, students travel—and learn— not just in Spain, but all around Europe. Those who have been on one of our study abroad trips will tell you: It truly is life changing.

Our E Pluribus Unum group got to go to a lot of different places this past week: Boston to Philadelphia to Washington DC to Shenandoah National Park. And while we enjoyed them all, we were still glad to see the sign at our final destination: Welcome to Lubbock.

We go into the new school year with a greater sense of knowledge and appreciation for the world we live in ... and we bring that knowledge back to Lubbock this fall in preparation for a fantastic semester.

After a two year hiatus, LCU Global Campus will return to Avila, Spain at the end of this month for a semester of studying abroad. Our students are excited to return and are already planning their time not only in Avila, but throughout Europe, as well. We cannot wait to be back and enjoy some of the experiences you see here from past trips as well as creating their own life-changing memories.

Follow along with us this fall and start planning to join us in 2027. More information and applications coming soon!
