Meet your '26-'27 SGA Senators and Education Representatives!

I'm Ivan Cardenas, and my concentration is in Secondary Education. Looking forward to this opportunity to serve the students in the College of Education and help set everyone up for success!

I'm Sarah Adams and I'm a sophomore with a concentration in Elementary Education. I'm honored to serve as this year's Chair for the College of Education in the Student Government Association. My top priority is making sure your voices, ideas, and concerns are represented in SGA. Please feel free to reach out at any time! I'm always here to listen and advocate on your behalf.

I'm Dey Chappel and I'm a 4th year Education Major with a concentration in Elementary Education! I am also a member of Chi Omega and NCFR! I ran to be a senator to represent every student, staff and faculty associated with the College of Education intentionally and whole heartedly so that way all voices can be heard and seen! If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out and I would be more than happy to get connected to you! ExpandEd: presents Examining and Improving the Credibility of Education Research on October 27 from 12-1 PM (Central Time) with Bryan Cook, Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.

Across science, concerns about reproducibility and research credibility have prompted attention to how findings are generated, evaluated, and translated into practice. These issues are especially consequential in education, where research directly informs instructional practice, policy decisions, and students’ experiences and outcomes. Yet, compared with other fields, relatively little work has systematically examined the credibility of the education research base itself. In this talk, I consider several approaches for assessing and strengthening the education research base, including the development and application of quality indicators for education research, designing and conducting systematic replication studies, crowdsourcing research across many teams of researchers, meta-research to examine patterns in the literature and potential sources of bias, and open-science practices such as preregistration and data sharing. Taken together, these approaches may offer a path toward a more transparent, cumulative, impactful, and credible education science—one better positioned to support rigorous inference and more reliable guidance for practice and policy.
