Austin, we’re coming your way!

The TTUHSC Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will be at the 2026 Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium (FURS) at UT Austin on Saturday, October 3. FURS brings together undergraduate researchers from across Texas to share their work in the biological and chemical sciences and gives students the opportunity to connect with graduate programs from around the state.

Stop by the TTUHSC GSBS booth to meet Ashlee and Jerri, grab some goodies and learn more about opportunities to take the next step in your research journey!

We’ll be sharing information about our graduate programs as well as our Summer 2027 undergraduate research internships, featuring:

The first GSA Journal Club of the semester is in the books!

Graduate students gathered over lunch for an overview of the Graduate Student Association, Journal Club and travel scholarship requirements. Throughout the semester, Journal Club gives students a low-stakes space to strengthen presentation skills, discuss current research, connect across disciplines and work toward eligibility for GSA travel awards.

We’re excited for a great semester of learning, sharing and collaboration!

Summer research internships with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences offered unique, hands-on learning opportunities for undergraduates and recent graduates.

Interns conducted rigorous research under the mentorship of graduate students and faculty at campuses in Abilene, Amarillo and Lubbock. They presented their projects at the end of the 10-week program. In addition to gaining valuable skills, interns also learned what it takes to be a successful graduate student.

🔬 Meet the GSBS Team: Lindsay Williams!

Graduate school is full of milestones, from orientation and registration to qualifying exams, dissertation defenses and graduation. As Program Manager for the Ph.D. programs, Lindsay Williams helps students navigate each step of that journey.

Working closely with students and faculty, Lindsay ensures our Ph.D. programs run smoothly while providing guidance and support along the way.

Earlier this week, we welcomed Rachel Washburn, Ph.D. back to GSBS for The Alumni Table! 🎓🔬

Rachel shared her presentation, “A Field Guide to FERAL Science: Exploring Complex Host-Abiotic Systems in Caves for Bioactive Discovery,” giving our students a fascinating look at her work exploring cave environments and the potential for bioactive discovery.

We loved having Rachel back to share her science, her experiences, and her journey with our current students. Thank you for taking the time to connect with the next generation of scientists and give back to the GSBS community! ❤️

For many prospective students, Terri Lloyd is one of the first people they meet at GSBS. As Director of Admissions, she helps future students navigate the admissions process, answers questions and welcomes them as they begin their graduate school journey.

From recruiting at conferences to coordinating interview weekends, Terri is passionate about helping students find the program that's the right fit for them.
