Alicia Macias’ journey through Texas Tech Online is a powerful reminder that student success is about more than completing coursework. It is also about being seen, supported and encouraged through difficult seasons.

During her first year, Alicia was diagnosed with a prolactoma tumor and went through treatments while continuing her classes. When she began to lose sight of the bigger picture, her professors noticed and helped connect her with counseling and additional support.

That care helped Alicia stay enrolled full time, complete her classes and continue toward graduation.

Today, Alicia has graduated and is and tumor free. We are so proud to celebrate her strength, her story and this incredible milestone. ❤️🖤

Texas Tech DFW kicked off its 2026 Speaker Series with a timely conversation on the future of artificial intelligence in education.

Mayukh Dass, Ph.D., of Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business, shared insights on how AI is reshaping teaching and learning, creating new opportunities for innovation and challenging educators to think differently about the future of education.

Thank you to Dr. Dass for leading such an engaging discussion and to everyone who joined us for the first session of this year’s Speaker Series.

Congratulations to Tom Gonzalez on earning her B.A. in Political Science through Texas Tech Online!

Tom chose political science because she wanted to better understand the inner mechanisms of our country. Through her program, she gained a deeper understanding of the systems and legislative issues that shape the world around us.

One part of her experience that stood out most was the support of her professors. Tom shared how approachable they were, always willing to answer questions and bring their real-world experience into the classroom.

Her biggest lesson from the program was one that will stay with her far beyond graduation: there is always more to learn.

Congratulations to Rochelle Baumia on earning her B.S. in Leadership Studies through Texas Tech Online!

Rochelle’s journey is an inspiring reminder of what can happen when determination meets the right support. While balancing work and life, she found the flexibility to log on after work, complete meaningful coursework and keep moving toward her goal.

One course that stood out to her was Storytelling in Leadership in the Corporate World, where she gained practical tools for communicating ideas more effectively. Rochelle also shared how much her professors’ support meant throughout the process, especially when they advocated for her and helped her believe she could finish.
