Eight students walked into the AC Surgical Technology program with a goal. This month, they walked out with a pin and a career.

At the School of Health Careers Pinning Ceremony, each graduate received their pin from a friend or family member, a small but meaningful moment that represents everything they worked for. Class president Samantha Nielson addressed her fellow graduates and a room full of people who have been cheering them on from the start.

These students are stepping into operating rooms across our region ready to make a difference. We could not be more proud of what they have accomplished.

College is a lot. Classes, deadlines, work, family, and everything else life throws at you at the same time.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone and you do not have to push through it by yourself. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as showing up to class.

A few things that can help:
Move your body even for just 10 minutes
Get outside and soak up some sunlight
Talk to someone you trust
Put your phone down before bed
Drink more water than you think you need
Give yourself permission to rest without guilt
Write it down instead of keeping it in your head
Say no when you need to
Ask for help It is a strength, not a weakness

The Angelina College EMS program trains students to become the first face people see in their most critical moments. From Basic EMT to Paramedic, our students train alongside real partners, including the City of Lufkin Fire Department, Nacogdoches County EMS, and Allegiance EMS, building the skills and confidence to handle anything.

This is not a program for the faint of heart. It is a program for people who are called to serve.
