You can help by:
• Refilling your water bottle 💧
• Printing only when needed 🖨️
• Choosing reusables instead of single use items 🛍️
• Putting waste in the correct bin 🗑️

Your LU Grounds Recycling Coordinator visited the landfill today with one of our truck drivers and saw firsthand where our campus waste ends up. Looking across the landfill, one thing stood out: many of the materials visible could have been recycled instead.

A plastic bottle can take up to 450 years to break down. An aluminum can remain for up to 200 years. Glass can last for over 1 million years.

Every item recycled is one less item taking up valuable landfill space.

Progress is underway at Liberty University because of you 🙌
We are grateful to everyone who continues to practice stewardship by caring for the resources entrusted to us. Our goal is to reach a 25% recycling contamination rate by the end of September, and every correctly sorted item brings us closer to that target.
This summer, you will begin to see updates and improvements designed to make sustainable choices easier across campus.
Let’s keep the momentum going.
