Western Illinois University is taking the next step in strengthening academic excellence and student success. Beginning July 1, the university will transition to a two-college structure: the College of Business, Health, and Community Programs, and the College of Humanities, Arts, Sciences, and Education.

The new two-college academic structure is designed to strengthen collaboration, support student success and create even more opportunities for career-ready learning.

WIU is thrilled to announce Thad Dohrn as the new Assistant Vice President for University Advancement/Chief University Advancement Officer, effective June 2.

Bringing more than 20 years of advancement leadership experience, Dohrn has helped lead transformational fundraising and alumni engagement efforts at institutions including DePaul University, Columbia University, and Iowa State University.

His leadership will play an important role in advancing opportunities for WIU students and strengthening alumni and donor engagement.

Nearly $25,000 raised for the arts! Western Illinois University Performing Arts Society’s 2026 gala, “Prohibition Party: Shhh…Tell ’em Billy Sent Ya!” brought the community together to celebrate and support the visual and performing arts while honoring the legacy of former COFAC Dean William T. “Billy” Clow.

The evening also unveiled the inaugural season of the Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts, generating more than $14,000 in opening-night season ticket sales.
