🏳️‍🌈 Madera Community College proudly hosted its Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on June 2, bringing together Trustee Rodriguez, students, faculty, administrators, and community partners in celebration of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

This year's event marked our largest turnout yet, reflecting MCC's continued commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where all students feel valued and respected.

A special thank you to our community partners—Imperial Dove Court de Fresno, Community Link, Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade & Festival, and Reel Pride Fresno Film Festival—for helping make this meaningful event possible.

Together, we continue to build a campus community where everyone belongs. 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a historic day at Madera Community College’s Agave Innovation Center! 🌱
On June 1, faculty, students, local farmers, and community volunteers came together to plant the first five acres of agave on campus—an exciting milestone for our agricultural research and workforce development efforts.
Your support is helping advance sustainable agriculture, hands-on learning, and innovative solutions for California’s future. We’re grateful for every volunteer who helped make this achievement possible.
Stay tuned as we continue growing this project and look ahead to producing our first batch of mezcal this fall!

Our CAMP students are exploring, learning, and envisioning their future! 🌟

Students from the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Madera Community College recently had the opportunity to visit California State University, Monterey Bay, to learn more about campus life, academic programs, and future educational opportunities.

Students also visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where they explored interactive exhibits and learned about California’s diverse marine life. 🌊🐠

Experiences like these inspire our students to dream big, pursue their goals, and see new possibilities for their future!

It is very important that you DO NOT ACCESS CANVAS.

It is not safe, and accessing it could expose both you and the District to serious security risks.

Do not log-in to Canvas through any method until our College Information Services notifies us that the system is secure.

The next Canvas update will occur next Monday.

We are saddened by the news that a true champion of Madera Community College and respected community leader has passed.

Santos Garcia, a proud retired United States Postal Service mail carrier and former Mayor of Madera, dedicated his life to public service and community advocacy.

In 2018, Garcia was elected to the Madera City Council, representing District 5, which spans from downtown to the eastern edge of the city. Just two years later, he was elected Mayor of Madera, reflecting the community’s deep trust in his leadership.

Garcia was also a devoted supporter of Madera Community College and its continued growth. As a proud parent of MCC graduates, he championed student success and believed strongly in the potential of our college’s students. He supported initiatives such as the Agave Innovation Program, regularly attended campus events, and elevated the college’s work at City Hall. He also served as a mentor to many staff members, offering guidance and encouragement.

Garcia’s advocacy, leadership, and unwavering support for the college and the broader community will be deeply missed. His legacy of service leaves a lasting impact.

Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
