Spirit Life is offering the courses for Fall which have been indicated as of interest to some individuals. We require an enrollment of 3 students per course, so we ask if you have an interest, please indicate it as soon as you can.
Courses being offered:
Tuesday: 6-8 pm T107 Systematic Theology I – Warren Allfrey (3cr)
Tuesday: 8:15-10:15, B101 Old Testament Survey – Lowell Ferris (3cr)
Thurs. 6-8pm, M104 Spiritual Gifts and Ministry - Larry DeWerd (3cr)

Short description of offered courses:

Systematic Theology I
Systematic Theology is an in-depth, consistent study of the theological detail of the course. This is very important these days to indicate a true Christian understanding not a societal understanding of Christian Theology.
T107 Systematic Theology I
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the sources, methods, and doctrines of Christian theology. Particular attention is given to the areas of:
1. Theology Proper (study of the doctrine of God) – including the revelation of God, His nature, His character, and His works, with emphasis on the trinity.
2. Christology (study of the Person of Christ) – including His pre-existence, His promise, His incarnation and the ramifications, and His resurrection.
3. Anthropology (study of the doctrine of man) – including humanity as God’s creation, human beings as sinners alienated from God by voluntary disobedience, and as the objects of God’s redeeming grace.
4. Hamartiology (study of the doctrine of sin) – including its origin, reality, extent, result, and penalty.

Old Testament
The Old Testament is a foreshadow of true Christianity. It is important that a Christian understand about the promised Messiah and the consistency of the Old Testament and its relation to the new.
B101 Old Testament Survey
Old Testament Survey is an introduction to all of the books of the Old Testament. This course takes the student through the content of the Old Testament, which includes the great account of Israel’s history, the prophetic materials, the Psalms and other poetic writings, the wisdom literature, and the historical materials that cover the Jews’ return from Babylonian captivity. Related subjects such as Biblical theology, historical origins of the literature, archaeology, and history of the greater Near East will be touched upon but not stressed.

Spiritual Gifts and Ministry
Many talk about the spiritual gifts without an understanding of what they are. Some would say they have the prophetic gift without knowing that the prophetic gift has different meanings whether it is from the Father, Son or Holy Spirit. Many also do not understand what the Baptism with the Holy Spirit consists of. The importance of the Holy Spirit and His part in the gifts for disciples is a basic part of ministry to individuals. All of these aspects will be explored in detail and are important to understand for modern day Christians dealing with our present world.
M104 Spiritual Gifts and Ministries
Spiritual Gifts and Ministries is a practical course that examines the activities of the Father, the ministries of our Lord Jesus, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. By taking this course, you will be able to participate in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, understand the purpose of each spiritual gift, and operate in your “gifting.” Special attention will be given to how gifts operate within the lives of individuals as well as in the body of Christ.

There will be one course offered in the spring of 2021 - systematic 4 on end times.
I have heard many people saying we are in the end times because of the COVID 19 pandemic. This is usually referred to using the prophetic word of Jesus in Matt 24: 3-8. In particular, verse 7b, which is “there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes.” COVID 19 and the locust plaque going on is usually referred to as being part of this. However, look at verse 4 “take heed that no one deceives you” and v8 “these are the beginning of sorrows.” Praying about this I felt the Lord indicating that SLI should have the course Systematic Theology 4, which deals with the end times and healing. Christians should have a complete understanding of the end times and the church and Israel. The description of Systo 4 is given below. This course is Biblically based and where there are questions all theories presented. There will be other courses, so watch for them.
T208 Systematic Theology IV
This course explores understanding of Divine healing and eschatology (what happens during the last days). Systematic Theology IV begins by exploring the Biblical teaching regarding the end times: the “rapture” and the second coming of Christ, the resurrections and judgments, the millennial reign of Christ, eternity and the final state of both the saved and unsaved. The content includes divine healing, God’s provision and promises concerning physical healing.

Fall 2020 courses
First Things: Creation
So many people don’t know what to believe about Christianity. They have scientists and schools telling them that evolution is a fact. Many teachers just repeat what they are given as curricula because they don’t think about what they are given. The trouble is that many consider that what they hear from unbelieving scientists is right without seeing the difference between facts and assumptions. A lack of understanding about the truth and facts of beginnings has led many to question their faith. This questioning happens even among stronger Christians. As it says in Timothy “be prepared to give an answer.” Just because the fact exists that there are fossils, doesn’t mean that the fossils are millions of years old. This is an example of the difference between facts and assumptions.
I have been pondering the lack of understanding among many Christians. I feel the Lord indicating that this course needs to be given to help Christians to become more solid in their faith.
B210 First Things: Creation
This course studies the evidence for creation, intelligent design and evolution. It covers an exploration of what is behind all the turmoil created by this topic. The difference between intelligent design and creationism as well as various approaches to the topic of origins will be covered. The science (at a layman’s level) behind the facts and their interpretation will be presented. It will supply answers to questions such as what do the fossils tell us and what ages are produced by the dating methods. The interpretation of Gen 1 to 10 and John 1 relating to the scientific facts will be explored, among other scriptures.

Spirit Life Institute offers classes that increase your knowledge of scripture. One of it's courses is on Creation. This semester Systomatic Theology 1 and Spiritual Leadership are offered.

Based on biblical chronologies, we can determine that the global Flood recorded in Genesis occurred about 4,500 years ago.1 After the Flood, the earth was repopulated by Noah’s three sons and their wives. So we should find genetic signatures of this timeline in human DNA. While a number of previou...
