Short description of offered courses:
Systematic Theology I
Systematic Theology is an in-depth, consistent study of the theological detail of the course. This is very important these days to indicate a true Christian understanding not a societal understanding of Christian Theology.
T107 Systematic Theology I
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the sources, methods, and doctrines of Christian theology. Particular attention is given to the areas of:
1. Theology Proper (study of the doctrine of God) – including the revelation of God, His nature, His character, and His works, with emphasis on the trinity.
2. Christology (study of the Person of Christ) – including His pre-existence, His promise, His incarnation and the ramifications, and His resurrection.
3. Anthropology (study of the doctrine of man) – including humanity as God’s creation, human beings as sinners alienated from God by voluntary disobedience, and as the objects of God’s redeeming grace.
4. Hamartiology (study of the doctrine of sin) – including its origin, reality, extent, result, and penalty.
Old Testament
The Old Testament is a foreshadow of true Christianity. It is important that a Christian understand about the promised Messiah and the consistency of the Old Testament and its relation to the new.
B101 Old Testament Survey
Old Testament Survey is an introduction to all of the books of the Old Testament. This course takes the student through the content of the Old Testament, which includes the great account of Israel’s history, the prophetic materials, the Psalms and other poetic writings, the wisdom literature, and the historical materials that cover the Jews’ return from Babylonian captivity. Related subjects such as Biblical theology, historical origins of the literature, archaeology, and history of the greater Near East will be touched upon but not stressed.
Spiritual Gifts and Ministry
Many talk about the spiritual gifts without an understanding of what they are. Some would say they have the prophetic gift without knowing that the prophetic gift has different meanings whether it is from the Father, Son or Holy Spirit. Many also do not understand what the Baptism with the Holy Spirit consists of. The importance of the Holy Spirit and His part in the gifts for disciples is a basic part of ministry to individuals. All of these aspects will be explored in detail and are important to understand for modern day Christians dealing with our present world.
M104 Spiritual Gifts and Ministries
Spiritual Gifts and Ministries is a practical course that examines the activities of the Father, the ministries of our Lord Jesus, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. By taking this course, you will be able to participate in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, understand the purpose of each spiritual gift, and operate in your “gifting.” Special attention will be given to how gifts operate within the lives of individuals as well as in the body of Christ.
