FDU Counseling Center - Florham Campus

FDU Counseling Center - Florham Campus The FDU Counseling Center provides personal counseling services to all registered students. Servic

Counseling services are available to all full-time and part-time students at no charge. The Office of Counseling Services maintains a staff of professional counselors to help students with educational, career and personal concerns. Within this confidential setting, students are free to discuss concerns relating to their personal and academic success, relationships and other problems arising from c

ollege living. The office offers workshops to the campus community on a variety of interest areas such as stress management, study skills, time management, drug abuse, etc. Counselors help students gain a greater understanding of themselves and their values, identify problems and attitudes which contribute to them, explore alternative courses of action and develop skills to cope with the problem(s). Our services complement the academic experience of students by facilitating healthy personal, social, and intellectual development. Life circumstances, skills deficits, and/or mental health problems may at times interfere with a student's ability to achieve important academic and life goals. We help students identify their problems, manage their emotions, learn new problem-solving skills, and successfully meet the academic and social challenges of university life. Our services include:

diagnostic evaluation, psychotherapy, advocacy, and mental health referrals;
developmental, preventative, and remedial counseling to university students;
consultation, educational and training services to the university community;
workshops on essential life skills (i.e., Assertiveness, Stress Management, Sleep Hygiene). In providing these services we value acceptance and appreciation for all differences among people including those of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, functional ability, socio-economic status, age, religious affiliation, and other characteristics that comprise identity. We strive to provide respectful treatment to students of any background.
