Photo supplied by David White (W9TX, formerly WD9FCP) in a 2003 email:
This picture is from the roof of Ogg Hall East tower. The time frame is spring of 1982. We were aligning the beams and cross pinning the mast after a wind storm blew the 2 M beam off target. I am up on the ladder (Dave White WD9FCP). My Motorola HT200 can be seen sticking up out of the toolbox. I can't remember who the person was looking over the edge at the sun deck below. If my memory is correct, Scott Gee WB9RRU was taking the picture.
There were a few hams living in the South East area dorms. Scott and I were the only ones in Ogg Hall. We had the radio club pretty much to ourselves. It was a radio room, work room, study room and just an escape from school. I lived in Ogg during the '81/82 and the '82/83 school years. There was one security guard that was a ham that would stop by and visit every now and then.
At that time, I think we had a Kenwood radio for HF and a Yaesu 2M. Some times I was able to hit the 147.72/12 repeater in Green Bay with the 2 M beam antenna.
We had some trouble with the South East Area Dorms Organization. They didn't want to give us any funding with only a few members. They would not allow non South East Dorm residents to be members.
