🌾🤖 Innovation on the Global Stage! The College of BIS is proud to share that Dr. Abeer Alkhwaldi was invited as a Keynote Speaker at the 11th International Congress on Engineering Sciences and Multidisciplinary Approaches (ESMAC 2026) this weekend!

Dr. Alkhwaldi presented the research project, "Engineering Resilience in Agriculture 4.0: A Socio-Technical Analysis of AI Integration and the Digital Frontier." This vital research explores the socio-technical impacts of AI in modern agriculture and was proudly funded by the State of South Dakota via legislative appropriations to Dakota State University.

An international keynote invitation highlights the global relevance, reach, and impact of the digital frontier research happening right here at DSU.

Dakota State University’s College of Business and Information Systems recently concluded the 2026 Spring High School Investment Game, a regional, experiential learning competition that ran from mid-February through mid-April and engaged 160 students from 10 high schools across South Dakota and Minnesota. Using the S&P 500 as the benchmark—which returned 4.13% over the competition period—the program recognized more than 40 students who beat the market, including nine students who outperformed the benchmark by more than 10%, highlighting strong decision-making and disciplined portfolio management under real-world market conditions. - By Dr. Yenling Chang
