Save the Date!

Prof. Stephen Macedo (Princeton) is coming to campus in early May. In addition to serving as keynote speaker for the CSLD's annual Disinvited Dinner, he will offer a public lecture at noon on May 4th at the Law School. The talk will focus on his book "In COVID's Wake," which offers the first comprehensive political assessment of how our institutions fared during the pandemic, and calls for a re-commitment to the values of liberal democracy, including respect for evidence and a commitment to transparency and truth-telling.

Lunch provided.

It was a sunny (and chilly!) day for our field trip to the Valley of Our Lady Monastery in Hollendale, WI, where we wrapped up our Order & Influence lecture series with the Cistercians nuns. They generously shared a bit about the history of their order and way of life, and invited us into a mini-experience of Gregorian chant, monastic labor, and a silent lunch (with homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert).
